LASD Palmdale Station: Woman arrested for beating 2-year-old child

The Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Special Victims Bureau is investigating an alleged incident of child assault that occurred in Palmdale. Deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of 10th Street East and Palmdale Boulevard to reports that a young child was being assaulted by a female adult. The information received indicated that the suspect was allegedly kicking the child and using a belt to assault him.

Deputies determined an assault had apparently occurred and they arrested the suspect, Michelle Fletcher, FB/27, of Palmdale. At the discretion of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the child was airlifted to a Los Angeles area hospital for evaluation and treatment. He is listed in good condition.

A second child, male 8-months-old, was taken into protective custody. The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating and making the determination as to child protection and placement concerns. The suspect is not the mother of the two-year-old child, but is the mother of the 8-month-old.

The suspect was arrested on felony charges of assault and child cruelty. She was booked at the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending future court proceedings.
