A call was received at about 6:38AM Friday by Palmdale Sheriff's Station deputies reporting a shooting in the 37700 block of Christensen Court, Palmdale.

The caller said there had been shooting in the home involving other residents and a woman had been hit by gunfire. The suspected male shooter was reportedly still inside the house, as were two teenage boys and the wounded woman.
Palmdale sheriff's deputies immediately went to the scene and the two teen boys ran out of the house. They told arriving deputies that the woman had been hit by gunfire and was lying unresponsive inside the house near the threshold of the front door.

Believing the armed suspect was still inside the home, the deputies rapidly formulated a plan to rescue the gunshot victim. They approached the home and located the woman bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound. The deputies carried her more than 50 yards to where Los Angeles County Firefighters had staged to provide emergency medical care. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is being medically treated for a gunshot wound. She is listed in serious condition and is expected to survive.

The shooting suspect barricaded himself inside the home. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and a Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT) responded to seek a peaceful solution while protecting the safety of the community.

Approximately nine hours after the initial call, sheriff's SEB Special Weapons Team deputies entered the location and found the suspect deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect’s identity is not being released pending next-of-kin notification.
